Tacos worth crossing the city for.

Al pastor carved off the trompo, quesabirria with consommé that should be illegal, and horchata like your tía makes. Family-run on 18th Street since 2011.

Our Story

From a weekend stand to 18th Street.

Luna Roja started as a Sunday-only stand outside Harrison Park — one trompo, a folding table, and Abuela Rosa's salsa recipes. Three years of lines around the block later, we signed the lease on 18th Street.

Fifteen years on, it's still the same family behind the counter, the same recipes, and the same rule: if we wouldn't serve it at our own table, we don't serve it at yours.

★★★★★

"I've lived in Pilsen 30 years and I'm telling you the al pastor here is the best on 18th Street. The trompo on a Saturday is a religious experience."

"Drove in from Naperville because of a quesabirria video. Waited 20 minutes. Would wait 40. The consommé haunts my dreams."

Sarah K. · Naperville

"They catered our block party — 80 people, three trays deep, nothing left but napkins. Half the block has already asked for their number."

Denise W. · McKinley Park
